About Your Visit
What to Expect Before Your Surgery
A staff member from Midsota Surgical Suites will call you before your surgery to confirm your arrival time, review any special instructions and answer any questions you may have. If we have not contacted you by 2 p.m. the day before your surgery, please call 320-253-7257 or toll-free at 1-888-MIDSOTA (1-888-643-7682). If your surgery is scheduled for Monday, we will call you on Friday.
Eating and Drinking: It is important that you do not eat or drink after midnight the night before your surgery. Do not smoke or chew gum after midnight. Do not consume any alcoholic beverages for 24 hours prior to your arrival.
Medications: Alert your doctor if you are taking any blood thinners including aspirin. You may be asked to discontinue the use of these up to two weeks prior to your surgery. You should discontinue the use of any herbal, natural preparations or mega vitamin supplements two weeks prior to your surgery as they may interact with medications used for your surgery.
Designated Driver: For your safety, you must have a responsible driver to take you home after your surgery. Public transportation will not be permitted. Arrange for a responsible person to stay with you for at least the first night following your surgery. You may want to consider arranging care for your small children for the first 24 hours after your surgery.
