What to Expect After Surgery

From the consultation to recovery, the staff at Midsota Plastic Surgeons wants to give you a superior patient experience. We created state-of-the-art Midsota Surgical Suites to provide a convenient, relaxing environment for you to have your procedure performed and return for follow-up visits with your surgeon or therapist.

Where do I go after surgery?
After your surgery, you will be taken to the post anesthesia care unit where you will be closely monitored by our nursing staff.  After you awake and are stable, you will be taken to a private recovery room where you will rest in a comfortable recliner and the nurse will give you something to drink and eat. Your family may rejoin you at this time.

Who will stay with me?
We recommend having a family member or friend stay with you at the facility during your surgery. Your surgeon will make every effort to meet with this person after your surgery. Children and dependent adults must have a parent, legal guardian or other custodian in the facility at all times.

When can I leave?
Most patients are discharged one to three hours after surgery, however our staff will determine this for each individual patient. The nursing staff will provide you with both verbal and written instructions regarding your surgery, anesthesia and how to take care of yourself at home. You may feel lightheaded and sleepy after your surgery for the first 12 to 24 hours, which is perfectly normal.

What if I have questions when I get home?
A nurse will call you at home after your surgery to check on your progress and answer any questions you may have. Your surgeon also will be available to answer any questions. You also may contact Midsota at any time.
